FIREFIGHTERS' SMOKE CONTROL STATION (UUKL)

The Firefighters Smoke Control (FSCS) panel allows a fireman to control the flow of air in a building, in a fire situation. The Smoke Control panel can have switches for the various fans and dampers within a building. It is most commonly used in high rise buildings. Accompanying the switches, there are normally status Leds, which show the position of the damper or fan switch. The Smoke Control display is most often seen depicted as a riser, showing the building levels and stairwells. The design of the FSCS is normally driven by code and/or the AHJ.

Kirkland specializes in Fire Alarm Graphic Design, having an exceptional drafting department, and Graphic Display methods, that allow for a clear, concise illustration of the layout, including using full color graphics. Using full color graphics assists the fireman in identifying the flow of air, showing the exhaust flow line in red, and pressurization/supply in green. There is no additional charge for colors utilized in the display, with unlimited colors to choose from.

Kirkland offers a wide range of large enclosures, which accommodate the normally large size of the FSCS panels. Our largest standard UUKL panel is 79.5”w x 40.5”h!

The FSCS panel shall be UUKL listed and conform to NFPA-92A guidelines.

The enclosure shall be constructed of cold rolled steel with welded and ground seams and finished with a black powder textured finish. The annunciator door shall have a concealed stainless steel piano hinge and the door shall be finished with a black powder textured finish or brushed stainless steel as directed by the engineer. The door shall be fastened with a key lock with no other fasteners visible. The graphic display shall consist of a lamination of an aluminum substrate with a reverse printed polycarbonate overlay. The graphic must have full color capacity to show different colors for supply, exhaust, and pressurization. A velvet texture finish must be applied to the polycarbonate face to eliminate glare. LEDs shall protrude through the laminate for 180 degrees visibility. They shall be wired to designated terminals for interface with customer’s remote controllers. AHU Switches must be UL recognized components with a minimum rating of 24 VDC/AC, 1amp. They shall be wired to designated terminals for interface with customer’s remote controllers. The panel must include a Key Enable Switch and a Lamptest Switch.

Graphic Face Method

GRAPHIC METHOD GP-4

  • Available in full color at no additional charge.
  • Available with dry erase coating.
  • Rigidity of the panel allows its use on display in a range of 1-15 square feet.
  • Ideal for Control Panels (FSCS), as Switches are mounted in the display.
  • Leds and Switches mount through holes in the display. Dead Front (DF) display is available, thereby making the Leds tamperproof.
  • Lamination consists of a velvet textured polycarbonate face, a reverse printed image and a 1/8” aluminum backing. The display is printed with pigmented inks, for long life, on UL94VO flame retardant grade lexan. A dry erase coating is available.
  • Display is a full color electronically printed lamination designed for Leds, Switches and/or customer supplied LCD.
  • The annunciator enclosure shall be constructed of cold rolled steel with welded and ground seams for a finished appearance. The backbox shall be finished with a black powder coating. The annunciator door shall have a concealed piano hinge and shall be finished in a black powder coating, or stainless steel as directed by the engineer. The door shall be secured by a key lock with no other fasteners visible.

    The display shall consist of reversed printed polycarbonate lexan laminated to aluminum, with a full color image. The LED and switch wiring shall be neatly harnessed to designated terminal blocks located in the annunciator backbox. The manufacturer shall submit drawings for approval prior to fabrication. The annunciator shall be Underwriters Laboratories listed. The annunciator shall be manufactured by the H.R. Kirkland Co. or approved equal.

    The graphic display shall be a black image on clear anodized aluminum or stainless steel. The graphic display can also include colors. The LED wiring shall be neatly harnessed to designated terminal blocks located in the annunciator backbox. The LEDs shall protrude through the aluminum or stainless steel making the LEDs visible at all times. A clear front pane shall render the LEDs and the image tamperproof. The manufacturer shall submit drawings for approval prior to fabrication. The graphic annunciator shall be Underwriters Laboratories listed. The annunciator shall be manufactured by the H.R. Kirkland Co., or approved equal.
